I am finally officially done with the liquids stage of this lap band thing- hallelujah! Tonight I am going to have a scrambled egg and it is about the most exciting thing to happen to me in a while. Last night when I was out shopping I had some KFC potato and gravy and it turns out that stuff is really only good for dipping your chips in, not so good on its own.

I have been super fricken hungry over the last week and I can't wait to be able to eat normally again. I have been trawling recipe websites like they are porn lately and have book marked a heap of recipes I want to make as soon as I can eat again. I have also been looking up menus for the restaurants I want to go to and drooling over the delicious food. This lap band better work because I clearly have a problem!

I haven't had any guidance from my surgeon on what to eat during the 'soft food' stage and I have noticed that it varies for different people, some people seem to just eat thicker soups and yoghurt, while others are allowed to eat things like sheppards pie and quiche. What did other lap banders eat during this stage? Don't bother suggesting to me that I vitamise my food- it is not going to happen. I wouldn't even eat baby food when I was a baby, I have always had a big aversion to mushy foods. I know I am being a big sook, maybe I'll get hungry enough over the next two weeks to start blending my food...

  1. Hey sweet,

Great to hear that everything went well with your surgery and you are feeling good.

Cant wait to track your progress!!

  2. Oh I hear you about being hungry, but for me I'm still on liquids, albiet slightly thicker as of today.. I cannot wait to eat!! That pic of KFC gravy and potato.. gawd, I was drooling. Congrats on your journey so far and have fun experimenting now :)

  3. Hi mate, wow, mushy foods already! I had things like tinned fruits blended with milk/yoghurt to make smoothies & cup a soups and my mum made me mince and veggies and I blended it up super fine. I remember really missing eating at this stage. Know how you feel!

Have you been having those Up n Go's? My doctors told us to have lots of those and I virtually lived on them. Lots of protien!

  4. I don't know anything about lapbands, but this is a great lentil and apricot soup recipe.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I also had a fun time playing in the dairy section of the supermarket. (The lack of fibre and pain meds did a number on me digestively though)

I'm sure the obsession with food will reduce as you can eat more of it.

  5. While I was at work I became a Peelz Juice bar slut in my lunch hours!! I think I tried every smoothie on their good!! I ate things like cottage cheese, eggs done any way, baked beans. I was like you......nothing got whizzed in my processor. I just couldn't stomach it!!
I have a seperate page on my blog that details what I ate while on mushies. Good luck!

  6. Is it wrong that I am drooling over that chip? Probably!

  7. Yep, have to admit i'm with you on the potato & gravy thing - only good for dipping chips into!

Hope you've found some good food choices now that you're out of the liquid stage.

    Watch those numbers fall!

  8. I keep wanting to post to this one, but I get stuck on the photograph you used. Is that actuallY edible? -GRINS-

But thumbs up on the way you are dealing with ever step of this road. I will gladly admit it, I don't know if I could do it, or if I could if I could do it as ..graceful as you.

Awww thanks so much for the comment!
